Volunteer Spotlight: Margaret
Margaret first came to Caring House around 8 years ago when she was invited to a luncheon. She did not intend on becoming a volunteer, but was stunned at the beauty of the facility. After learning more about the mission, she wanted to get involved. She began by teaching a knitting class once a week. When a volunteer shift opened up, she was more than happy to join the team.
Margaret is now a regular at Caring House and can be found at the front desk with her knitting needles in hand. She loves when guests stop by to get help with their knitting projects or just to chat. Her favorite task as a volunteer is getting to greet each guest as they walk through the front doors.
“I think volunteering here is mostly about helping people feel comfortable and safe in a friendly environment. The person at the front desk gets to be the face of that.”
Besides the front desk, Margaret’s favorite part of the House is the Great Room. She loves explaining to new guests that Caring House is a place where you can be social and make friends, while also offering guests a quiet place for healing and respite. The Great Room acts as the center of the house for those that wish to come together in fellowship and support. Thank you, Margaret, for sharing your time and talents with Caring House and our guests. We are so grateful you joined our family!
