What You Missed: September at Caring House

Did you miss our September newsletter? We had a busy month prepping for the Fall season, celebrating our six-year anniversary with meal volunteers from Restoration Place, and offering a trolley tour at Duke Gardens to guests! Our staff got the chance to cook dinner for the house and connect with guests over a shared meal. In case you missed it, check out a word from our Executive Director, Sasha, below!
Mornings are getting cooler, pumpkin spice is in the air… and even though the leaves are still green, and the weather is hovering in the 80s here in Durham, we are gearing up for fall! As we jump into the last quarter of the year, we are reflecting on the loving community that surrounds us. Every week we have seasoned (and new!) volunteers bring food or cook meals for our guests. We cherish the tasty home-baked cookies delivered by volunteer Leanna Tilley each Tuesday, and relish in the love from committed community groups like Restoration Place.
If there’s anything our volunteers have taught us, it’s that sharing a meal is so much more than sharing good food.
