Let’s Grow Our Virtual Community

COVID-19 may have temporarily closed our doors, but we want to make sure you know that Caring House is still here for you! Whether you are a former guest, volunteer or Caring House supporter, we want to hear from you! Join our online community and let’s continue to lift each other up – even if it must be from afar for the time being. Here are just a few ways we can cultivate our virtual community:
Our guests are the heart of Caring House. We know the temporary closure has directly impacted many of you. How are you doing? We’d love to know what you are up to and how you are keeping the joy alive amidst this period of isolation. We invite you to share your photos and stories of how you’re keeping busy at home or out in nature with us on social media. Just click on the blue social media buttons in the top right corner of our homepage. You can also send your updates to our communications associate, Maegan Eichinger at communications@caringhouse.org. We will share some of your messages with our online community. We can’t wait to hear from you!
UPDATE: We could all use some good news right about now – and Caring House is here to deliver! Caring House will subsidize $40/night of hotel bills for Duke Cancer Institute patients that are currently unable to stay with us due to COVID-19. This will be up to a maximum of $500 per patient and this program will continue until funds are depleted. Reach out to your social worker for more information. We hope this brings some light to you in these unprecedented times.
We also dearly miss our volunteers. Your smiling faces and dedication creates a home away from home for our guests. Please reach out to one another! Caring House is such a tight knit community and we bet your fellow volunteers miss seeing you just as much as we do. And don’t forget to reach out to us! We want to know how you are keeping busy too. Share your indoor/outdoor activities with us on our social media or send your updates to Maegan at communications@caringhouse.org. Your familiar face will surely bring joy to one another and to our guests.
Finally, we miss our incredible donors! We are grateful not only for your financial support, but also for your commitment to helping others. The best way you can support our community is to continue your ongoing financial support (if it makes sense for you in your current financial situation). Your assistance ensures that we maintain financial stability and operate in the future as planned. Consider making a monthly gift of any amount – your generosity goes directly toward providing a healing environment for Duke Cancer Institute patients and their caregivers! We are already gearing up to reopen as soon as it is deemed safe for our guests, volunteers and staff. We will remain in close contact with you with any good news as it comes! Connect with Sasha Zarzour, our Director of Development, with any questions or concerns at sasha_zarzour@caringhouse.org.
