Volunteer Area
Caring House is fortunate to have a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers who direct incoming calls to guests and staff, and greet our visitors in this front lobby. Sometimes, you will see our volunteers helping us with other administrative tasks and creative projects.

Guest Bedroom
A guest’s bedroom is his or her private area at Caring House. There are eighteen bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Fourteen bedrooms are downstairs, and four are upstairs. Nine bedrooms have two twin beds, and nine have a double and a twin bed. Each room has a telephone with voicemail, a television with basic cable, a DVD player, and a radio/alarm clock.
Caring House has three separate, fully-equipped kitchens, each with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, which are shared by six different guests and their families. Kitchens include small appliances, dishes, flatware, pots and pans. There is a pantry with a lockable cabinet for each guest room to store nonperishable food items. All meal preparation is done by the patient or his/her caregiver. Sometimes, individuals or local organizations provide meals and entertainment during dinner time.

Kitchen
The great room is the social center of Caring House. Guests often use the room to visit together or to entertain visitors. There is a stereo, television and BluRay player; guests may play their own DVDs or watch those from Caring House’s collection. There are cards, board games, and jigsaw puzzles for guest use. The great room is also a music room, with a baby grand piano for our musical guests and for concerts by visiting musicians.

Great Room

Hobby Room
This room is primarily the Library, and continues to evolve to better suit the changing needs of our guests. Guests can borrow books during their stay to either read in a cozy corner of the house or at their treatment sessions. Computers with internet access are available in this room for guests and caregivers to use to keep in touch with family, friends, and offices. Thanks to the generosity of a former guest, we now have an extensive array of beading supplies for anyone who would like to create jewelry.
The laundry room has three washers and three dryers. Laundry detergent is provided, and guests may wash and dry bed linens and towels, as well as their own clothes, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. There are irons and a built-in ironing board for guest use in the laundry room. A deep sink may be used for hand-washing or soaking items.

Water Garden
Our beautiful water garden is a peaceful, serene spot to relax and wind down. It is stocked with colorful Koi for the guests to enjoy. A few steps further you will find the Vegetable Garden, recently replenished with new soil and new seeds and herbs. Any time you want to work in any of the gardens or take care of the Koi, just let us know and we’ll be happy to equip you with whatever you need to enjoy the outdoor spaces.
The Healing Garden commemorated our 10th Anniversary and is dedicated in honor of our six founding angels Barbara Booth, Frankie DuBose, Susie Leaming Huffines, Pat Joklik, Bunny Kerns, and Martha Erwin Uzzle.
